As part of Archbishop Flynn's charge to every parish to be a "Community Caring for Life," we at MHT have been supporting the Minnetonka and Southside LifeCare Centers through our monthly special collection and other projects.

The centers are part of Total LifeCare Centers, Inc., a family of 24 crisis pregnancy centers founded to assist women in choosing life for their babies, rather than abortion. Other services provided by these Christian, non-profit organizations include adoption counseling and abstinence education.

The Minnetonka Life-Care Centers serve women at 351 2nd St. in Excelsior and 1615 Mainstreet in Hopkins. A large percentage of these clients are St. Louis Park residents. The Southside center is housed in a building purchased and remodeled by volunteers, located at 4105 Chicago Av. S.

Besides our ongoing donations, a matching grant was given to the Southside center to help with purchase of the building. We have also given a grant to the Minnetonka center earmarked for car seats and have collected diapers, layette clothing, baby furniture and other items for the centers to give to new mothers and their babies.
