Buddy Reading
Once each week, the fifth grade and first grade students
get together to read. The first graders begin the year
practicing letter sounds and sight words. They progress to
reading books and answering comprehension questions. The
fifth graders read stories that contain vocabulary words
from their reading curriculum and fine-tune their reading with
expression.
Fifth graders help the kindergartners carve pumpkins to decorate for the kindergarten potluck.
Student Council Food Drive
During the month of November, the MHT Student Council organizes and promotes a food and supply drive. The items are collected and delivered to STEP at Brookside. This is one of the several service activities done by the MHT Student Council throughout the year.
